Ton Duc Thang University is producing workers for the golf industry

Information administration and Vietnamese studies are the two new majors offered by the HCM City University of Social Science and Humanities.

The Ben Tre branch of HCM City National University plans to open three new majors – monitoring and structure maintenance, food quality assurance, and renewable energy.

The Economics & Law University has two new training programs for the 2019 academic year – finance & banking laws which will be taught in French, and tourism & travel service administration.

The HCM City Open University has three new programs, marketing, economics and computer science, while the HCM City Industry University now has land management and labor protection majors.

The HCM City University of Polytechnic Education has attracted attention from students and parents with its robotics and AI major. In the first year of training, only 20 students will be enrolled. Only excellent students with a 24 or higher score for three exam subjects from the high school finals will be considered.

The major is described as a ‘super-discipline’ as it provides knowledge of three industries – mechanical engineering, electricity & electronics, and information technology.

Explaining the launch of the major, the school’s rector Do Van Dung said this will be a pivotal field of the 4.0 industry and demand for workers in the field will be high.

Meanwhile, Ton Duc Thang University has started a major for workers for the golf industry. A representative of the school said the major will satisfy the demand of a society which is developing and integrating with the world.

This year, many programs are also being given with lectures in English by Vietnamese and foreign professors.

The Hanoi Economics University has announced the launch of digital business  bachelor’s degree. The graduates of the programs will be able to apply IT (information technology) and digital technologies in their work.

Educators emphasized the importance of English skills in the global integration period.

Minh Khang, a student at Le Quy Don High School in Dak Lak province asked career counsellors what faculty he should apply to, and said that he is good at math and physics, but bad at English.

In reply, Phan Nguyen Luan from HCM City University of Polytechnic Education advised the student to practice English skills because such skills would be necessary in the 4.0 industry era.
